Meet the Team

Bruce Mirkin has been a licensed Optician for many years and has always appreciated the dedication that goes into every pair of eyewear he sells. 

He graduated Stony Brook University in 1978 and the New York College of Technology for Ophthalmic Dispensing in 1982.  Optics runs in his family.  Both his parents and siblings are all in the optical field.

He was taught at an early age to take care of each customer as an individual, each with different optical needs and wants, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity. 

Almost every pair of glasses is made on premises, and Bruce uses his experience and expertise in designing the best combination of lenses and frames that work best for each customer.

Bruce was given the award of business person of the year recently by the Rockville Centre Chamber of Commerce. “We want everyone to look great and see even better with their new glasses, we try to blend the fashion preferences of our customers seamlessly with their optical needs.”

Jacqueline Axelrod has been working at Accent on Eyes since 2005.

Jacqueline began as a part time employee while attending Nassau Community College, however over time her interest in both sales and optics continued to grow. 

Jacqueline decided that she wanted to enter a career in the optical field, attending New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, New York, in the fall of 2008.  Jacqueline graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences in the spring of 2010, becoming licensed in Ophthalmic Dispensing after passing the ABO certification test later that summer.  Soon after, Jacqueline passed the NCLE certification test, becoming certified to fit both children and adults for contact lenses.

Jacqueline loves working with people and customizing their eyewear needs. She puts forth her best efforts to make sure people feel good about their appearance, while also being mindful of the health and well-being of their eyes.

Whether assisting a customer who is in search of that new trendy pair of eyewear or fitting a young child with contact lens, Jacqueline seeks to understand the customer’s desires and hesitations to ensure comfort and satisfaction. Jacqueline truly loves what she does; her passion for helping people shines each and every day at Accent on Eyes!
